I am honored to share with you the story of Kvell Spirits, a journey deeply intertwined with heritage, perseverance, and the pursuit of creating moments that, in the future, we will look back on and kvell about.
My late father, Nick W. Mitchell Jr., was a remarkable man whose wisdom has been a guiding light in my life. He taught me many valuable lessons, among which were the appreciation for a well-crafted drink, the comforting ritual of a good evening “toddy,” and the significance of the word “Cheers” – a simple yet profound expression of goodwill.
The story of Kvell began in the summer of 2002, on the serene beaches of Pawleys Island, S.C. It was there, under the shadow of a personal family challenge – my father’s diagnosis with early onset dementia at 57 – that the seeds of Kvell Spirits were unknowingly sown. Holding a Corona with lime as I absorbed this life-changing news, I realized I sought something more, something stronger to brace against the tides of change.
In my quest for the perfect evening drink, a journey that spanned several years and countless trials, a close friend and an esteemed figure in the alcohol industry lent me his expertise. His knowledge, connections, and unwavering support were instrumental as we explored various avenues, from high-quality moonshine to southern sipping spirits.
Our endeavor, fueled by an unrelenting passion and dedication, continued amidst various challenges. The loss of my father to Alzheimer’s on November 14th, 2015, deepened my resolve to create a spirit that was not just the best in quality but also accessible.
The pivotal moment came in early 2017, amidst work on a rum liquor. My fascination with the legacy of pirates and natural ingredients led to an epiphany. The realization that sugar cane, traditionally used for rum, could be the key to crafting an exceptional vodka, marked a new direction for our venture.
After several exciting discussions and meticulous refinements, Kvell Spirits was born – a culmination of years of exploration, research, and unwavering dedication. Kvell Vodka is not just a testament to superior craftsmanship; it embodies a spirit of resilience and the joy of life’s simplest pleasures.
Kvell Spirits is more than just a brand. It represents a journey of overcoming adversity, cherishing memories, and creating moments that are truly worth kvelling about in times to come. It’s a tribute to my father, to the lessons he imparted, and to the enduring spirit of perseverance.
